Heh. 2 years or so ago I told the moderator of a gaming forum I'd quietly fade away if something wasn't done about the juvenile sociopaths taking over. She defended them (turns out it was her kinda people) so I just vanished with no kiss off post. Still getting emails and IMs to this day asking me to come back. Haven't.

I used to be one of those heavy handed admins who got to lock 'goodbye threads'. We also locked 'I feel like killing myself' threads (though with a suggestion to seek professional help) and 'my wife died last week so now I need a new g/f' threads. We were ruthless. It helps to have Romulan in charge.

Mind, that place was like crack: we called it 'Hotel California' as no matter how many 'goodbye threads' you started, no-one ever actually left.
