In addition to those already mentioned, I think Pushover is a pretty nice game.
I played it as a child (on a PC) and was hooked as soon as I tried it on the n900. It doesn't really make use of the touchscreen, though, so you've got to play it with the keyboard.

I have Doom 1 and Wormux installed and love them! Will try out other games mentioned here soon.

I want to try Duke Nukem 3D but what version do I want? the shareware or CD version?

Do a search on this forum. Quake 3 has been discussed exhaustively, and the thread is actually called Quake 3. Similar with Duke Nukem 3D.

I really like uqm. It's one of those games that will appeal to those who like to acquire goodies in an RPG and see their character and their understanding of the game world increase in strength as they finish quests. It's a more long-term game than the ones you list, though.

Doom (PrBoom) is probably the easiest FPS to play because it doesn't require aiming (by design) or up and down looking.

Gweled is fun when you just have a few minutes, especially if you like puzzles.

One might say i'm biased because i ported and/or maintain them. Well, yeah...obviously i wouldn't spend time on them if i didn't think they were worth it!
