OK, I've done some more testing and here's what I've found:
-- I tested Conversations, App Manager, Contacts, Settings, FM Radio, Calculator, PDF Viewer, Photos, Email. I'm not nuts about portrait mode, so that seemed like plenty of testing for my purposes..
-- without exception, portrait mode stays enabled for any app that I've tested it on so far even after quitting and re-launching the apps (or switching between them).
-- portrait mode DOES NOT stay active after rebooting the device.
-- you can enable/disable portrait mode on multiple apps simultaneously by simply opening all of the apps you want to enable or disable it on before you press Ctrl+Shift+R. Kinda handy
Maybe this is the key? In my case, I'm activating it like this:
1 - launching the apps I want portrait mode enabled/disabled on
2 - opening the keyboard
3 - pressing Ctrl+Shift+R
4 - closing the keyboard
5 - closing the apps
6 - ???
7 - profit!
Not sure how else someone would do it, but hope this helps..
