or even better, somebody could make a neat/simple/little app/widget out of that...
just to make things more un-geekish, isn't that what "everybody" is talking about?

My way works, I am just not geekish enough to make a widget or 4 to do the job - wish I could.

if you mean this one displaying % and mah of the battery this is just using desktop command execution widget

i take it this is something you have to do yourself and need to know how to do it rather than being downloadable?

shortcutd enables you to use the proximity sensor to launch phone menu etc

1 - what is the command to display the battery percentage?? 2 - is the command entered in xterm? 3 - does it stay up all the time even after i shut down and/or restart the device? if not how do i make that happen? 4- how often does it update the percentage? (seconds)
