iPad has the huge first mover advantage here - there are no credible alternatives available for purchase, so customers are not able to make a real choice. At this point, smart money shows some restraint and avoids the urge to buy anything right now.
I know iPad has a strong "ooh shiny" effect, probably stronger than other Apple products - but if you look into the whole gadget objectively, you'll see that it's nothing others wouldn't be able to do better.

Silly impulse purchase? Neither actually. I'm already looking forward to the iPad 2 but if you keep waiting for the superior product you'll never end up buying anything, be it a car, tv or microwave.

I beg to differ on that last part... I think Android (with froyo's glaze) can challenge the iPad, especially due to its 'better' multitasking and generally more open design (memory card friendly, less restrictions on the apps, etc) and a competitive finger friendly ui.

I actually blew the cobwebs off my 6230 this week to put in a pre-paid sim from TMobil to test out signal strength in places I use my phone often. (I simply don't trust their on-line signal map thing... it lies, often.) I do still like how light it is, and T9 texting, but it's so limiting in other ways... I can barely stand to use it to test the signal strength, yet alone to go back to it as my day-to-day phone.
Glad to hear you still enjoy your 6230 though, and your iPad. You may want to get on selling your N900 soon. Electronics never go up in value. If you've decided you're done with it, sell it now, not later. (And if you think of it... put a link to tmo on the desktop before you sell it, so the new owner can find this forum easier.
