Hi, windows users will get a working 1.42 version in the shape of 1.43.
Download from here:

DVD support is trivial, but I won't do it. Sorry.

Konttori has released 1.43 (obviously the resolution list fix, as announced). Really great, thanks a lot! While I was waiting for this fix I studied the source code and now I know that new resolutions including frame rates can be defined just by editing Resolutions.txt or resolutions.txt resp.! Well done, konttori!

Anyone else having problems running 1.43 version for XP? I have quite fresh installation of Windows XP SP2 on my laptop and when I install Media Converter and try to start it, some window only flashes on the display and nothing starts up. Does Media Converter need some other components in order to run?

Regards,
Jaykie

I do get a Java command line window popup now, but Media Converter still starts, albeit a tad less instantaneously. Win XP Home SP2.

Try maybe to start it from its program directory; perhaps the desktop shortcut is fritzed up.

I tried linux version of MediaConverter 1.43 and I noticed that when I select my device (N800) the list of video resolutions doesn't update like it does in XP versions. It only displays 770 video resolutions. So in other words I cannot use 400x240 resolution for my N800. Anyone else with the same problem? Or is there some bug in my java runtime.

Jaykie

When I convert a movie for my N800, I want it to stay in 16:9 ratio. When I run the avi file on my PC it looks fine, but when I play it on the N800 it stretches it to full screen.
I converted one movie a few versions back and it stayed as 16:9 ratio on the N800 but all my recent ones are not.

Does anyone know how I can watch movies in the letterbox format on the N800?

thanks.

I just discovered that you are correct: Version 1.43 is still as f*cked up regarding the aspect ratios as the previous versions were.

I did trial conversions of "the Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Casino Royale", both for N800, 400X240, deselected the cropped for 770 screen option, 2 passes, enhanced audio and colour. tGtBatU came out squashed vertically and CS exactly the opposite (stretched vertically). The first one is a bog-standard DivX and the second an equally normal XVID.

I'm beginning to think Konttori is out of his depth on this one and that I have to start looking for another conversion tool.

I think Konttori prefers the image to fill the screen and he doesn't test the letterbox format.

Hopefully, he can look into this and resolve the issue
