Why OMAP? TI hasn't really shown much innovation in their OMAP series of SoC devices. If anything, I'd like to see a dual-core 1GHz Tegra.

TI's OMAP series is extremely reliable with very good performance. Nokia has been working with them for a long time, and I suspect they've got the whole "support" thing down. Nvidia is an unproven vendor with a checkered packaging history as of late (on top of being dependent on TSMC,) so I can understand major vendors like Nokia being wary of touching their products, especially the Tegra2 which is their first somewhat up-to-date product.

Well the rootfs will be on NAND no matter what, the only question is how fast the NAND is and the capacity ;p

Samsung and LG are both pushing A9s by the end of this year. i feel its in nokias best interest to place themselves up above and beyond with an omap4440. it will be an also ran with a generations old SoC ... need to keep the platform ahead of the curve, else its doomed i feel.

If you mean that Samsung A9 proc that will start mass production in 2H 2011. That's hardly this year. More in target with the rumoured second MeeGo phone to be released in Q2 2011.
I would love to see OMAP4 inside N9 but i don't belive we will see that inside N9 at all.
