Has anyone managed to figure this out yet?

Ive got the exact same problem. It started off randomly doing it, and a reboot would fix it, then i would have to reflash to fix it. Now a reflash doesnt fix it at all.

So, not sure where to go from here.

Im from australia, and i got it online from hong kong 3 months ago, so, although in warranty, its not actually covered due to me getting it from a different country.

ive used different sims, different operators, different flash images, nothing seems to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to reflash and not install alarmed. That's what breaks it for me.

Did you do a full reflash, root+optfs?

Several people had this problem and flashing fixed it. In my case, root only does the trick, but it might have something in opt.

Do a correct flash with the appropriate image (for full reflash I recommend you download PR1.3). After reflash, boot it up. Does it complain about it at first boot? And I do mean first boot not first boot + a few necessities.

If so, you might have a bad block on root, which is what I suspected on my device. If you can't even reflash root without the error, you could either return it to Nokia Care or attempt something fun, like downloading a backup from another user, a tar from BackupMenu v3.4+ and boot with telephony disabled. Install BM, copy the tar on the SD and attempt a restore over the badly flashed image, twice. The first one will force UBI to mark bad blocks and the second will be pristine.

If this sounds too complicated for you, it probably is and you should return it to Nokia. They can't return it to you if it doesn't boot right. Mine only did this after some programs got installed, so it's not like I can test it in the shop.

Hi,

I've tried to install the pr1.3 upgrade yesterday morning, using Ovi Suit. It started out fine, but then broke off in the middle and reported an error.

After restarting the device, it would take extra long to boot and then pop up a message saying that all telephony functions have been disabled. Once I tap on that message, it continues to boot and displays the pop-up again, after tapping on that message the desktop appears with a "no-simcard" icon at the top - eventhough the sim card is installed.

Since then neither PC Suit, nor Ovi or NSU recognize the device anymore. So, I decided to flash it - using the instructions on http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...t/false/page/2.

Unfortunately, the flasher doesn't seem to recognize the device anymore either - USB connection works fine (Mass Storage works).

Oh, and back-up restores my desktops and apps, but still no telephony, SIM icon still crossed out.

Any ideas? ...I'm so frustrated...:-(

Luckily the flasher worked on XP...didn't even have to do the eMMC one, just pr1.3.

Please read the entire thread and, if still not fixed, post details, please. We can't help if we don't know what the state is.
