I am very happy now because my N900 is back to life after the ******** problem of "installing software update" please do not interrupt. I tank God that it's okay now. I promise to be with NOKIA all my life.

I'm with this problem righ now. What did you do? Just wait? For how long?

Is this from any Nokia PC software, or do you use the built-in Hildon Application Manager (HAM)? Did you think about flashing the newest firmware instead of software update?

The N900 frozen and I rebooted it via power button. When it started to boot, the messenge "Installing software update" appeared and frozen in 4%. It's in this state already. I did not make any attempt to update the phone. It just wanted to...

Update: now the N900 responds to nothing.

My phone was stuck on the same thing for 5-6 days

Installing Software update
please do not interrupt

wat i finally did to get out of this mess.
1started my phone. it wen into the same thing
2 connected it to my pc via USB
3 Ctrl + C and held it for 5 secs
4 the system automatically restarted and loaded back like normal.

try it out....hope u guys can also get ur 900 up and working like normal

My N900 had the same problem for a few days - "Installing software update. Please do not interrupt. 5%".
Then I did what described K_115 and my phone came to life.
Thank you!
