Are you on about the lock code?

If you are able to get SSH access there's a way to get the encrypted code and decrypt it.

just reflashed. automatically downloaded applications and restored a backup (unfortunately not a recent one)
n900 in now useful again!

N.B. I don't have any active code to lock the phone

I won't try again... but if you press slightly the off button you see a menu. I think the dangerouse button is "lock screen and keys".
If you don't provide a code and you press"turn off" when asked, I think you'll not be able to access the phone.... brrrr....

Maybe it is worthing setting an unlock code even something obvious like 1234.

If it happens again at least you have explicitly set a code.

No, "Lock screen and keys" just does the same as the switch on the side of the N900.

the button is in the upper-left corner. "lock device"?

Which button? In the upper-LEFT? The only time I see a "Lock screen and keys" button is when pressing the power button on top. Did you maybe download an app or something that creates a lock device button on the desktop?

Something strange afoot.
