Just tested my modest and it seems to do transfer. One more nail to Modests coffin (Itīs just freak show of all email clients what I have seen. I use only webmail)

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9294
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2582

Maybe you can test
http://maemo.org/packages/view/claws-mail/
http://maemo.org/packages/view/trojita/
http://maemo.org/packages/view/qmfmail/
All seem to be under developement so normal warnings apply.

All is not lost. Have a neb at your options for improving Modest here:

I rather enjoy the fact that the N900 is so open to tweaks like this.

i do have problem to complaint about the n900 email client.
Seems like this client cannot change the coding for asia font type (simplify chinese, traditional chinese, japanese etc...)

so now my n900 only can read email which is in the simplify chinese.

Any other third party email client can replace the default client?

I've tested 3 of alternate email clients, all of them are too complicated for mobile device where I need fast access like in Modest.

I do not find any solution for downloading emails with full attachements - this is major problem when I use GPRS connection all the time. I did not even think that someone could leave such big mistake from the begining without any real solution in upgrade to Fremantle 1.2...

"Oh you simpleton! You should go back to iPhone/Android like the rest! Linux is too good for you!!"

Just kidding.

I was simulating the more ignorant minded users here who mistake 'complexity' or 'complication' with 'capability'.

I agree with you that it's an unfortunate state of n900 that it's missing such a basic requirement as email, being an 'internet tablet' ;(

Missing point?
Iīm here to
- Experiment my device
- Learn
- Tweak this toy to death
- See what devels are doing
- Help if Iīm able
- Hit people who think that this is Nokia's Feedback & support forum with trout

Things like that. And about hope and maybe also wishing. That happened last time when I was 5 years old and waited for Santa Claus. Nowdays I do not have time for that kind of riddance. If something doesnīt please me then I change it fast as possible.

If I need support or have urgency to give feedback to Nokia then I would use appropriate channels.

PS.
I try to care as little as possible for future for brands & companies and most importantly STUFF (you know..dead items). Only things I mostly care is that my crap is solid and my coffee is black.

It (modest) sucks balls on so many levels that if you really are dependent on proper e-mail client then for heavens sake change! Buy product that suits your needs and donīt waste time on this experiment.

Weeeellll... remember how we got here? I challenged your description of Nokia's marketing and you got all defensive and started to paint the picture of how you think Nokia conducts their business (E vs N series, etc) and went around town talking about the market.

(So much about not caring about brands and such but it's ok, we all are affected by the performance of these brands and platforms anyway. So, it's only natural.)

We could've saved so much time if the standard answer to Modest related inquiries here is a straight-shooting line like this.
