Mine does it too, started soon after I dropped it months ago.

Does it every few days or so, several times, and it seems to help when I hit it, or try to bend it, or something. Big pain in the *++(9!3 when it happens.

I've tried a new sim card, cleaning it, bending the sim cage to push it harder/tighter into the contacts, new battery, and even tried a little trick I saw somewhere on here to place a piece of paper or cloth inbetween the battery and the body (seperates the battery from sim more???). Just tried that 2 days ago, and I thought it was good, but it did it again today.

Nothing has really helped. I'll probably send it in to get repaired, that plus the FM transmitter, plus the potential usb port (has acted up a couple times, but nothing definite yet)

I have been experiencing "connection error" a lot recently while making and while on the phone. Signal completely disappears quite often causing the above mentioned problem. It used to be low signal before and some (rare) connection problem but now its painful. Would it be coz of PR1.3? Has it changed anything in this aspect? or is it just my carrier gone worst? Btw, I'm with 3 Australia. Thanks

I had this issue too. Unfortunately for me, I had the handset bought in UAE while i reside in India. I had it sent back to the customer service center in UAE and all that they did to fix it was to update the phone software. I have no idea what else they did. I was not given a replacement though!
My problems had started after I had flashed the global version of firmware followed by UK version and finally the leaked PR 1.2. The disconnection finally stayed on even after getting a new SIM.

now with the power kernel 40 i can upgrade to it (with 37 it was a no go always that sim card error tried twice)

It is not about the sim card for me, i already changed it i think even twice... So even with brand new sim cards it still did this for me.
Also it is not the connector or sitting it loose, because for me it happens also when i do nothing or the phone is on the desk.. (i get sometimes the feeling that it happens when i am supposed to get an sms or call... but i dont know that because i never get them)

Also most of the time i dont change anything i just reboot and it works again..
So i dont know what it is software or hardware.
I would like to know which software part is responsible for this? Could i for example restart a daemon ? Why is most of the time a reboot needed. What is restarted that it suddenly works again?

Don't know, some years. But I really doubt it has anything to do with my problem - everything worked perfectly before the update, and it all started right after the update.

I had this problem too when I just upgraded to PR1.3. But it seems like it fixed itself. I have no idea what did the trick. What remains for me is that my earspeaker wont work. So I need to put my conversations on my big speakers... pain in de ***.

the only time I got a 'sim disconnect' message was after PR.1.3 but when I was driving in a low signal area....never seen this message before, but it doesn`t happen frequently....only in a low signal area.
