guys i read on net about smthn called meego,bs i didnt understand fully wat it is i mean is it operating system like maemo ?

meego is the next gen platform (OS) for nokia tablets / tablets cum fone. Developments versions are available for n900 and most probably within March/April expect a fully mature meego on n900 although it would not be officially supported by nokia.
The screen resolution of 840x480 nullifies the 65k display color which is as such limitation of OS rather display LCD. Dont worry you wont see a single diff rather you would love the display.
If you are into internet surfing and all, you i'll love the device. you can browse on n900 just like browsing on desktop.. Check it out you i;ll know what i mean.

I assume you are talking about portrait mode? If this is really important to you I would return the n900 while you can because it will never fully support portrait mode (at least with maemo 5).

There are some apps available witch will do some things in portrait mode, even some tweaks for the user interface itself. But Maemo, will never get full portrait support. Personally I can live with a horizontally oriented device, can you? Oh and, this upcoming Meego OS you've heard about will probably get full portrait support, and will be available to download on your n900. (as a matter of fact it already has a release whitch you can use, but it is yet very basic, and it is a gamble for we don't know how MeeGo will turn out to be)

Certain programs do implement portrait mode:
Filebox
Mediabox
Faster application manager
MicroB
and there are others I can't think of, but there is no system-wide implementation.
