try to charge your battery with a different phone battery that is compatable to use doesnt neccessary be the same size battery as long as it fits . like the (nokia 2680, nokia 5800 battery etc)
you would go any further if the battery isn't fully charge.
when fully charge connect to usb and reflash by press and hold u.

No I didn't - I wouldn't know how to OC it to be honest! The device wasn't doing anything at the time, just sitting there with no apps running, whilst I slept. Then at about 3 AM it started going mental on me!

water damage? impact? microwave? defibrillator? ants? solar flare? left it cooking inside the car in a hot sunny day? poked the holes too hard? living in front of the sea? any recent thunderstorms while it was plugged on the wall? is your house built over an ancient native american burial ground? been around any van de graff generator or tesla coil? have you been tasered recently? have you been using a non-Nokia battery on it?

All of the above apply. Is that not cool?

And hey presto, the phone boots! It was a ropey looking start up and took a few minutes but my phone booted and is now working fine! Although I'm scared to disconnect from the USB until it does a full recharge again!

The great thing is nothing is missing either!

Would people suggest I reflash it still?

I have this exact same problem right down to the amber LED staying on for a little while!
Unfortunately,
1. Pull battery
2. Connect USB
3. Insert battery

isn't working for me...! I can't get into RD mode or normal flash mode as nothing happens when I plug in USB. Any other suggestions beyond reducing it to spare parts?

PS. I would be interested to hear from owners of bricked N900's.... How common is it? Perhaps another thread?

Well when I plugged it into my computer (Macbook) it didn't do anything until I launched disk utility...

Baring in mind, it took 4-5 days of messing about to get to this point. Remembering back, I had already tried USB on a PC and nothing happened.

Last night my phone started spazzing again - did the whole vibrating in the middle of the night thing again and flashing weird stuff on the screen, and I had to disconnect the battery to switch it off. This time however I was able to turn it back on. When I checked the CPU activity using a battery etc monitor - it shoots right up at 5am. I wonder why this is happening.

I'm going to try a reflash today and see if that helps.

Cheers,

Hi,

Maybe a demon is going all "paranormal activity" on your innocent little N900 during the night.
Reflashing it maybe the same as 'technological exorcism' in this case.

LOL. Sorry for the offtopic nonsense.
Hope your phone can get fixed.
