less stable than symbian, altho symbian is a legacy OS and hardly a smartphone now.. but as stable as fruitfone , slightly better stable than android.. and very very very stable compared to winmo.

nokia wins hands down in making stable OS supporting even frugal hardware.

That along with other options for power button menu can be found here

It is labeled under Advanced Customisations so I will append the usual forewarning:

Backing up your data is recommended. In case of trouble you might need to re-flash your device.

Stock kernel and no overclocking. I can't remember the last time I rebooted my device.

If you haven't rebooted in months, you have no use for this phone. It is rock solid only as long as you never install anything or tweak anything. Why use a N900 if all you need is a dumb phone? Was it the design (brick) that got your attention? or the battery life?

briliant phone!!!

i got mine in feb 2010 and i was a complete and utter linux noob ... i have installed many many apps from all repos throughout the year and touch wood never had any serious problems ... never had to reflash.

using info from maemo.org have been able to do more advanced stuff such as use xterm to do minor things and have also installed nitdroid to multiboot.
i have even written a noob tutorial on how to add reboot button to power key menu (which i am pretty proud of) http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=48843

all in all the n900 is an awesome phone but only becuase of maemo.org and all the brilliant devs out there that created the apps to make it an awesome phone

big up everyone and merry christmas!

My friend with the n97 and all other people i speak of it, **** phone.

Then HTC, ive seen alot of phones with windows mobile and general, lagging etc etc etc, same story, **** phones.

Myself, motorola razer, hanging etc.
