OK, I have a very strong feeling about something and I'm about to have a verbal diarrhea on all y'all and I don't even bother to find out if this has been discussed yet or not, cause I think I'm very important or I'm just too lazy. Or maybe I'm just ignorant. Or I just want special attention.

Or.

Why not just help the guy?
Berating him won't help anyone...
Everyone has made stupid and previously answered threads before.

It's not just making stupid/already-answered threads. It's about making threads where you obviously didn't do a single thing to try to find out if this had been brought up.

As much as I hate it when snobbish you-should-know-this-why-are-you-asking-instead-of-finding-out-the-answer-somewhere-else replies come up, there's a very major difference between just no knowing, and not knowing without trying to know. (Of course, ideally, no one judges that UNLESS they also take into account how easy it is to find out what IS publicly easy to find, and how hard it is for a search result to be found on the question.)

When I make berating posts, I typically try to have enough patience to type out help on top of it. HOWEVER, at the same time, it would be wrong to JUST answer helpfully, without also giving some indication of the fact that not bothering to search beforehand is not positive behavior... pretty bad behavior in the grander scheme of things, albeit understandable for minor things when in a rush or something.

However, I DO think that answering with just hostility and no helpful or productive information is worse. (Although again, depends on how much of that is astute commentary in an asinine manner, and how much is asininity for the sake of the writer's amusement; how much of the possible advice has already been said; etc.)

For what it's worth, the poster's good intentions are truly admirable - he did just go online to warn people about 1.3 breaking Python, people he has no reason to care about. And for all we know, he honestly didn't have any information to suggest to him that PR1.3 was months old, and if so, it may not have been natural to think "maybe this already came up". But at the same time, the truly ideal cognitive behavior should always be to fact-check yourself, at least briefly, before saying something like that. (And I admit I don't follow this myself all the time, but I typically edit my posts right after to fix it, and I would be okay with people berating me for doing that specifically. Especially if they were being productive/helpful at the same time.)

I see it like, let's do the job instead of him, so he learns nothing and he'll do it again and again. And it's not like the molecular physics or something, it's just common sense, and don't say people don't know how to use internetz, if he managed to register himself on forum, he knows how it works and what is "search".
And yes, there is option that guy wouldn't understand that not pleasant lesson and would leave us, or he would understand and it would help him to resolve those kind of problems himself, instead of waiting for replies on thread. one or other way he would stop flooding the forum.

As far i remember most forums have those rules of flooding and not following rules, and on one side they maybe are too strict, but on other side just think when every newbie would ask the same question (and a lot do), and there are thousands of them, it would make forum an-navigatable and the good and important therads would be lost in mass of " PLEASE!!!!!!!! blah-blah-blah STUPID blah-blah.PLEASE!!!!!!!!!?" and would also ##ck up those who do know how to use search as all they would find are those useless threads.

P.S. would this game be ported to maemo5?

I just come to warn that after I had install PR1.3 my N900 gone terribly and to warn others who hasn't update to PR1.3 yet not hasty update without caution.

Even you're sophisticated but it's not mean you can disparage a lower guys!
I came to this forum because I had a problem that i want to find the solution and I believe that the others would do so.
And certainly I didn't have the purpose to flooding or annoying you guys!!

due mostly to overdoses of caffeine.

If you are a girl then that means we actually have more than three
females using the n900 - a big surprise to us 699997 males
who rarely ever encounter a female voice here.

Don't worry too much about the crass reactions,
we all get that way sometimes but when we have a few moments
to reflect on how distant the horizons are it sometimes puts things back in perspective.

Having another female onboard will raise some of the posting standards
and clean up some of the cruder comments made around here.
