Finally noticed that the Nelisquare logo itself is a button that will display the last system message when pressed in portrait mode, and when pressed in landscape mode it gives you the "missing" icons.

Beautiful!

Beautiful!
It also works in landscape mode, just tap the title bar instead of the title. Very nice app.

Okay, so if you had devel enabled and ran apt-get installed on the libqtm-11, you should have pulled in all the dependencies.

Can you run Nelisquare from the xterminal, and then after Nelisquare opens with the black screen, switch back over to the terminal and copy and paste to us what errors it displays.

Code:
/home/user # /opt/usr/bin/NeliSquare
Maemo applications must be run with the run-standalone.sh script!
QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme.
file:///opt/usr/share/NeliSquare/qml/NeliSquare/main.qml:2:1: module "QtQuick" is not installed
     import QtQuick 1.0
     ^
hijackWindow() context created for QmlApplicationViewer(0xbea95b8c) 1
QGLWindowSurface: Using plain widget as window surface QGLWindowSurface(0x804d8)
ps: screen is white this time

Okay, so not all of your dependencies were installed. Make sure you have extras repository enabled and install with:

apt-get install qtquickcompat

If Nelisquare still bombs out, check the terminal again and install whatever remaiing qt apps it's still complaining about. Not sure how you could have installed libqtm-11 via apt-get and not get the qtquickcompat packages...

Something strange still happens to me.

After the app starts, even after Recent check-ins are displayed, the PLEASE WAIT message does not disappear !

Also, by clicking Nearby , nothing seems to happen.

As for the the Please wait message, according to the developer:

"Yes, that is the case when there is something wrong with the API call or network connection. Adding more error detection to upcoming versions."

The Nearby button in the friends tab does not work. Probably a time out. The above future error detection will help with that. Overall the entire friends tab is a bit buggy...

Click on the NeliSquare button and select Places (or just click on the places icon when in portrait mode) and you'll find that the basic check in and search functions work perfectly.

Any updates ? The bug I reported in my previous post still hasn't been fixed...

So I saw an update in the repos for Nelisquare today. Unfortunately, the update does not seem to contain the actual /opt/usr/bin/nelisquare file to launch the application....
