Oh! A update, nice. (:
I will look up and try to adapt the patch.

Update for catorise

Jaffa released 0.9.0 and I adapt the features from 0.8.2.3 to 0.9.0. so 0.9.0.1 has features from 0.9.0 and can generate dynamic categories (like 0.8.2.3).

Don't forget!
It's a unofficially version. Try out! And hope that Jaffa gives a "OK"!

thanks a lot ! your work is really appreciated.

below are a couple of suggestions/requests.

feature request 1 :

In Catorise Gui, can you please add an "Edit directory" button to allow the user to rename a directory or change it's icon without either deleting it first or changing the values manually by modifying the directory file.

feature request 2 :
(quite hard but useful )

can you please add a section, or a secondary list/tree to specify where the directories should be placed, and modify Catorise to build the sections accordingly.

this is useful for having sub directories within main directories.
ex.
Games
> arcade
> puzzle
> emulators

to achieve the above (ex. to add an emulators directory within games)
the games section in the hildon.menu should look like :
Code:
  <Menu>
    <Name>games</Name>
    <Directory>games.directory</Directory>
    <Include>
    <Filename>100boxes.desktop</Filename>
    <Filename>maemoblocks.desktop</Filename>
    <Filename>tuxrace.desktop</Filename>
    </Include>
    <Layout>
    <Menuname>emulators</Menuname>
    <Filename>100boxes.desktop</Filename>
    <Filename>maemoblocks.desktop</Filename>
    <Filename>tuxrace.desktop</Filename>
    </Layout>
       <Menu>
         <Name>emulators</Name>
         <Directory>emulators.directory</Directory>
         <Include>
         <Filename>vgb.desktop</Filename>
         <Filename>vgba.desktop</Filename>
         </Include>
         <Layout>
         <Filename>vgb.desktop</Filename>
         <Filename>vgba.desktop</Filename>
         </Layout>
       </Menu>
  </Menu>
emulators directory is to be created exactly the same way that it is being created now through Catorise Gui, just needs an addtional section to specify directory tree.

then catorise is to read that configuration, and place subdirectories within correct parent directories rather than all being inside the root directory.

Thanks in advance !

Good idea. I will add it soon.

Subcategories are in planning.

UPDATE

"catorise" and "Catorise GUI" are now in one package "Catorise PLUS". The update replace the "catorise" and "catorisegui" package, but don't replace or delete your customized categories.

With this update you can edit categories and it shows your selected icons.

And!
It's available in maemo-devel:
http://maemo.org/packages/view/catoriseplus/

Have fun! (:

Further to that, I'm thinking (perhaps) you should choose your own name, cos what you've done is pretty rude.

I wanted the extended version of catorise and catorisegui in the maemo-devels, so that users can easily update this version. The name should represent only that this is the extended version, but continue to be based on catorise and catorisegui. The two programs were combined to not confuse the user, because the expanded catorise is not compatible with the current catorisegui, just as vice versa. I didn't want to steal your or reckdesigns work and put it under my name. I wanted to give users only the opportunity use this application, because many users need or want this features. I'm really sorry.

PS: Sorry for my very bad english... *cough*
