OK...Im now trying to change phones from my samsung with EDGE capabilities to a cheap knockoff iphone clone from a company called CECT, the P168, its actually a really good phone in my opinion. It is capable of Bluetooth DUN, however it only has GPRS, not EDGE. Below are the settings that WORK on my samsung with edge. i move the sim to my new cect phone and after i establish the dun connection on the phone, the n800 says internet conn. failed, try again?. Is there something obvious that I need to change in the n800 settings to go from EDGE to GPRS? any advice is appreciated! You guys got my last phone working, im sure we can get this one too heh.

I have called the connection TMOBILE
Connection Type: Packet Data
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Dial-up number: *99***1#
Username: 702883****(my 10 digit cell#)
Password: -BLANK-

Then i go to the advanced tab

Proxies Tab:
I have the proxy box checked and the info below entered:
HTTP Proxy: 216.155.165.50
Port Number: 8080
HTTPS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
Port Number 8080

ALL else on the proxy tab is blank

Under the IP Addresses tab:
I have Auto retrieve IP and DNS checked

Under the other tab:
I have the allow plain text login box and the use ppp compression box checked. and this under the Supplementary AT Commands: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

Oh yeah, just so yall know Ive tested the internet out on the phone alone, and its configed just fine for tmobile, I can browse google etc, just the crap wap version until i get the connection to the n800

For anyone else browsing this thread and thinking about getting a phone: My Windows Mobile smartphone did me a favor and died, so I bopped on down to the T-Mobile store and picked up a Nokia 6133.

I had it paired with the N800 and set up for DUN in about 30 seconds by simply following the prompts in the N800's connection wizard. What a welcome difference from Windows Mobile!

The data plan I selected includes free access to T-Mobile wifi hotspots, so I now have slow-speed (GPRS usually, EDGE maybe) access everywhere, and broadband in most airports.

The 6133 stays in my pocket unless I need to dial out on a voice call. The bluetooth with the N800 Just Works. Ditto with a Jabra earpiece.

Compared with the iPhone, which several of my coworkers have bought, I'd say this setup is like buying a mix-and-match component stereo instead of a Bose WaveRadio.

Well, i dont have an "Iphone" and i dont plan on ever getting one. im happy with my much cheaper, unlocked imitation. The thing i really needed to know, is there anything in those settings above that are specific to EDGE, that i need to change to have access using a GPRS only phone?

This is still an open issue for me, I havent gotten the internet connection to work on my latest phone...cect p168. Its driving me crazy, ive got the bluetooth dun connection working and active, i just cant get past the "internet connection error, try again?" screen on the n800. Im pretty sure it has to be a setting on the n800. can anyone tell me if there is a specific setting that has to be changed on the n800 to access net via gprs instead of edge? The settings are provider specific i believe, thats why im confused as to why it will connect thru my samsung, but not thru this phone. One thing i dont understand is the Packet Data/Data call options....should one work with gprs and one with edge? any help is greatly appreciated!

vegas, make sure the last part of the proxy address is "50" and not "050".

In other words, it should be 216.165.155.50 and not 216.165.155.050 as is generally posted in forums.

It actually makes a difference for som reason!
