sip, as a protocol, is just a session setup system. it can carry any kind of data on top of it that you want to, be it video, voice or text, or even files if so wanted...

ugh, there is one to many variants of libpurple floating around, and the only one that i have been able to log onto msn with is the one from the collabora repo, and it pulls in a 20MB pidgin-data package!

If I'm not wrong..
Code:
apt-get autoremove
will remove the pidgin-data.

You can test first with:
Code:
apt-get -s autoremove

sorry, no.

checking the package in app manager shows that libpurple0 (2.4.3-collabora1) depends on it, and therefor cant be removed.

it again is tied to telepathy-haze.

Don't know the difference but I have this version (and I dont use msn).

HIH

Edit: did a quick check and it gives a network error with a hotmail account. I think that's equal to msn (?)

i think i tried it, and all i got was "network error"...

and yes, hotmail accounts are the easiest way to get msn going. altho you can use other mail accounts to (but they need to be verified first, hotmail accounts are pre-verified so to speak).

sometimes i wish that there was a way to show non-system libs without going red pill.

oh, and the dependencies tab as well!

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I wont be using it until this feature is satisfied.

seems to me they need to support the full range of functions that pidgin provides...or even better , just have pidgin integrated as they did with modest...but perhaps polish the UI and graphics a bit to fit in with everything
