Installing it from tarball kde style is not possible. Just reflash and do it apt-get way, worked perfect for me.

Ok, I've found some things. New initfs in diablo has stuff for wimax tablet. There is libbb5 confirming some of my suspicions and a program called bb5-random. There is also now a bme-RX-48 which we understand to be the wimax tablet.

USB device found found at bus 001, device address 014
Found device RX-34, hardware revision 1302
NOLO version 1.1.11
Version of 'sw-release': RX-34+RX-44+RX-48_DIABLO_3.2008.18-11_PR_MR0

Ok, I can confirm diablo initfs is not compatible with N800.

I made a stripped down version of the initfs but my N800 keeps rebooting. Any hackers aka fanoush willing to take a look?...

BTW, I don't see a point in making a tarball or a deb with the Diablo - after all it will be out soon.

Why does it sound better to update it yourself...

Steps (as I understand it):
  1. Remove any of
    • modest
    • powerlaunch
    • spellchecker browser add-on
which is installed. (Modest is now default, you can try reinstalling powerlaunch and spellchecker when you're done.)
  2. Edit the sources list as suggested here.
  3. Follow mvo's instructions, summary:

Anyone who can't do that probably wouldn't succeed with a tarred rootfs, either.
I think these should be added too:
sudo gainroot
rm /usr/share/osso/images/initfs.jffs2
flash-and-reboot

This will give you the new kernel as I found out first at 12:30 AM :P :/

Here is my stripped down diablo initfs, it doesn't work so DONT flash it but it is the original with the crap removed so it fits in flash.
I attach it if someone wants to work on it. I don't have the time.

Still same version but it was compiled last month compared to the chinook one which was compiled in Dec.

I'm fine with everything but what is needed to fulfill this?: "in a shell that doesn’t die when the network goes down"

I think it just means make sure the network stays up otherwise you will get undownloaded packages. I didn't use the network to download my packages.

Meanwhile, here is another screenshot:

(if you are wondering, the only update atm is Map)

MicroB and Modest are using maemo-invoker, so they should be starting faster.

I fixed my Modest problem - version 17 doesn't have any dependency problems, but doesn't even start for me, so i decompressed 19 and pasted directly on top of the other one. So now it works.

Downgraded RSS Reader Applet to the Navi version - still no option in 1.5.x for one liners.

Looks like the long-tap bug is fixed and also MicroB always reacts when i tap the back button. Anybody else to confirm these? (EDIT: tried with mtPaint, touchscreen feels much more responsive now)
