Can anyone tell me what the options are for us in the UK, regarding a sleeve... I was going to get the official Nokia one, but it doesn't really do much protecting now I've seen more photos. I'd prefer just a sleeve-y type thing...

I'm extremely pleased with my N900 screen protector.

I have a DuraSec screen protector on my N810, and was happy with it, but I thought I'd try a protector with a less "squidgy" feel for my N900.

I ordered the Qubits Hybrid Armour Soft Touch Case with Screen Protector from Amazon UK. The total cost for the case and screen protector (including shipping!) was only £3.40. It arrived two days later.

It comes with an anti-static dust cloth which worked really well for cleaning the screen prior to application. Positioning on the screen protector was much easier than the DuraSec (or maybe I was just lucky).

The screen protector has a great feel (smooth but not slippery) and I don't notice any reduction in sensitivity whether using finger or stylus. It has small cutouts around all the sensors and also around the little NOKIA bezel.

Included in the price is a two-part plastic "soft touch" case. The top part clips around the screen, protecting the sides of the screen and providing a raised bezel effect (but the bezel doesn't go right up to the display area so it doesn't have the problems of the N8x0 bezels). The bottom part clips around the keyboard with cutouts for all the sockets and controls.

Before I had this case I was worried about getting out the phone when walking along, in case I dropped it. The case gives much better grip and I'm not at all concerned now. There are two small downsides though. First, it adds a millimetre of thickness (maybe even 1.5mm) but only at the front. At the back, it doesn't make it as thick as the existing camera protruberance. Second, when you open the keyboard, the presense of the top half of the case slightly reduces the "free space for fat fingers" above the top row of keys. I don't find this a problem, but for some people it might be a slight inconvenience.

Even if you just use the screen protector and not the case, it's a pretty good price.

Regards,
Roger

Hey eiffel,

As I needed something to cover the sides and corners of the phone I ordered the black plastic armor you posted. Together with full body armor (which doesnt cover sides) from zagg, it should be good enough protection if not overkill. I hope the screen doesn't lose much sensitivity :P

I don't like pouches or carry cases as they add way too much bulk and if you need to remove the phone from the case it takes time.

The armor really makes the phone feel ruggedized. I'm loving it, and have noticed absolutely no reduction in screen sensitivity due to the screen protector. I'm very pleased.

I did notice another minor disadvantage though. The part that fits onto the back of the device does make it slightly fiddlier to deploy the kickstand, although I don't use the kickstand frequently enough for this minor inconvenience to matter.

Regards,
Roger

Says soft-touch case. Is this a soft case (rubber, silicone, and such) or a hard plastic case with a soft rubber coating?

hey guys I didn't want to start a new thread on this and thought it would be okay in this one, but after I ordered my full body from Zagg, I wondered what is something happens to the device that doesn't cause you to have to send it in due to a malfunctioning issue but is just a vanity problem. like a scratched screen or really bad chrome edge scuffs, is there or will there be third party or Nokia site(s) to offer select parts to replace much like the iphone has.

seeing as though a lot of us in this thread have bought or will buy a protective casing for a device we dont have yet or just got, which implies we value it, so would you go through the trouble if you had to replace a part on it (if it were cheap enough and worth it ).
