I just tried this out for the first time last week on my N800, and I quite like it. Very useful, and well laid out. However, I have one rather serious bug and one feature request.

Bug: my screen never seems to sleep, whether on or off battery. I have "Display stays lit" set to Never in the Control Panel, but since installing Advanced-systemUI, my screen is always on either full or dim. I looked around in this thread, but couldn't find another such bug report. Any ideas what might be going on, and how I might be able to fix it? I have advanced battery status monitor and a few other utilities installed (and I do have the community SSU installed).

Request: I liked being able to lock the screen without looking at it, by pressing power->square. Now, in order to lock the screen, I have to find the lock button, which is hard to do when the device is in my pocket. I couldn't find a way to configure it to lock when after advanced-systemui is activated and another key is pressed. Is there already a way to do this, or could it be added?

Thank you

Try a long press on the lock button once, see it that will help on the bug. I have seen it happen both with and without ASUI for as long as i have had my N800.

@ parejkoj

Are you using the 0.4.6 release or have you installed the test binary? Does the screen stay lit forever after a boot but before you use the flashlight or fullscreen clock in ASUI?

By "power->square" do you mean power button followed by dpad center button? Does that combo lock and unlock on the n800? The only way to currently lock the device is the onscreen lock button or the n810's hardware lock button. I'll see if a I can work out a way to lock it using buttons on the n800.

In N800, thanks to "lock screen" being the upper most option on the power button menu, power followed by center dpad results in the screen lock coming on.

I can add a setting for an n800-lock mode that when enabled (default on n800) would always open ASUI when power button is pressed and the dpad center would always lock when ASUI is open. The close-on-lock setting would still work for dpad center but power button would no longer be able to close ASUI when n800-lock mode is enabled. This would be the same behavior as systemui. You could still use escape button or a swipe from buttons to widgets to manually close it, the power-open-power-close combo just wouldn't work anymore.

Sound good?

I also get the same behaviour, although I'm not entirely convinced it's ASUI's fault. This started happening to me after I stopped ASUI so that SystemUI would then start up. It did, but pressing the power button would result in nothing happening so I restarted MCE which solved that problem but now my display light stays on...

That said, I suspect it may be caused by something different: alarms. Do you have any set?

Are those of you having this problem running ASUI and systemui together? I have both running while testing the new secure button and as soon as the display blanks (auto or forced), something triggers it to turn back on. Problem goes away when I stop systemui.

Instead of stopping systemui, restart mce and tell me if that works.
I have a similar problem which is driving me crazy.

My n810 wouldn't dim or blank the screen at all after restarting MCE, had to reboot.
