I thought the whole idea was to reuse the N900's external shell. The hardware (CPU, RAM, IR LEDs...) is being replaced anyway, so why not other bits, like the screen? I can see immi's point.
Having said that, I see literally zero point in cramming more pixels in a 3.5" screen. 800x480 is just fine. And whatever you do, please, please, please do NOT go down the capacitive route.

The Capacitive route means the gap between the neo and any other model of phone which can boot linux narrows almost to the point of disappearing.
Which would only make others begin to question and wonder the big "why bother with a neo in the first place when the same can be accomplished with a more affordable device..with the same or... (most likely now).... better specs?"
To add to the issue...
Sure...go ahead...insist for additional wants..
lets add more onto the pile...
that will most surely speed up production time.
I would like a cappuccino frothier and food dehydrator option installed on mine please ...
so I can dehydrate apple slices while sipping a capp while watching "modern family" at 720 p on my capacitve neo900

Higher resolution of display would mean faster battery drain, and would probably necessitate a larger battery. Mugen company seems dead as it is; I don't think that finding a higher-capacity battery for a device with higher-resolution display would be easy. Especially if it involved a different battery cover.
