Dude. That was short but epic.

Yeah, there was definitely a dreamlike quality to the culture when I worked there. Seemed positive at the time, but delusional in hindsight.

Symbian wasn't failing, it was the competition (except Microsoft) that have been tremendously successful. First Apple, later Google. Of course, Nokia would take a loss in number of sales eventually, but they decided it was time already, themselves.

True but when you lose your home market, Europe to Samsung something is not right.
Android has been so fast to grow that Symbian can't stand a chance. We are talking about turning the ship around here and Symbian has been losing market share for 3 years now.

volt is right. Symbian is a red herring here. It really isn't THAT bad. There were much more important factors killing Nokia. Lack of agility, poor platforming, bad carrier relationships, poor or non-existent advertising, inept social engagement... I could go on...

Dude, don't you know about Samsung? Samsung is growing faster than Google. Faster than China. In ten years, half of all products but food are Samsung products. If Samsung decided on MeeGo, then we would have MeeGo.

If Nokia lose market share in a market that is growing but keep revenue, they should not gamble all and everything. Though, they haven't been keeping revenue, they've been losing, and the brand name has been losing more, since tec media the last ten years have been very Northern America centric and Nokia repeatedly have failed this market. Still, seems to me like they're gambling big and losing.
