If you don't have root access and terminal, I don't think it will appeal to this crowd all that much. Not saying that it's crap, but it's just not "the same thing" either.

You also had terminal out of the box. Gaining root was just an install away. Not an unlock. Not an bootloader hack. Not a custom ROM. Just an install.

If the wonder twins of leaked information are indeed correct, there's no terminal. The problems start there.

i dont have the quote, but i do remember Quim saying a while back that root access was very easy to get in Meego/Harmattan. remember that it was not enabled out of the box in Maemo either - you have to download rootsh.

Sounds bad already. Will it be installable at least using the GUI package manager?

Ah, QG tweets about a (new) MeeGo device, but it's not a Nokia nor a handset... (Asus EeePC X101)

QUIM at meego.com/forum:
As said in the past, users interested in getting full raw Linux power, including root access, will be able to get it.

That began with Chinook. Or was it Diablo? Certainly in Bora and earlier versions of Maemo we had to download and install X Terminal.

In Harmattan, if there's no longer an application icon for the terminal, I'm hopeful the solution is as simple as was hinted at by qgil's question back in December of 2009.

If it had a point, well, wouldn't it be better to explain that rather than question the point of my post - not that I am claiming my posts necessarily have a point - if, as it seemed to me, it really didn't have a point, then never mind.
