This might work. If you grab a meego app you could install it with alien on harmattan, should work for most apps. Still confusing for some maybe but it's way better than just call it meego. So they could say something like "N9 comes with Maemo6 which is MeeGo Ready". And when people ask what "ready" means we can say that the only noticable (graphical) difference is that if you want to install a rpm package you have to use alien.

It will be sold both with windows or MeeGo. There will be a choice between HD or SSD too. They just haven't said yet if the windows version will be more expensive or not...

The windows version will be called X101H. No word on pricing, but assuming it will cost more since you need to pay for the windows license.

Just joking, guys... I hear that a lot, and I believe you do too.

I am definitely expecting to be able to root Harmattan easily. I don't care so much to have to install a package, "take the red pill", etc. But I wouldn't like to lose warranties, that's pretty lame.

iOS was based on the same Darwin foundation as OSX, and therefore inherits stuff from XNU, BSD and Mach... It's POSIX as far as I know.

POSIX is a great dealmaker, but of course not being easily rootable is a dealbreaker to me!

How else will I write python scripts in the bus to hack the closed-source music database to include metadata from my unsupported OGG files???

Dsmobile from mobile-review forums
Candy bar "meego" phone is good but it wont be enough to save 2011 for Nokia. It might be too different for current markets and mostly it's just for people who like iOS not really for people who like Android/symbian widget style.

Don't assume that... I have seen it happen a lot, either Linux versions vanish as if by magic, sometimes along with claims that the infamous "return rates" were high, or they manage to sell both for the same price, and either refuse or make it too hard for you to get money back from the fact you are not going to use windoz3.

Nokia is really out of control stock down 20% after todays "announcement".

I begining too wonder if our damn device will be released at all

Maybe Elop thinks its not worth it better invests even more emplyers to get the damn wp7 phones faster out at the market.

Reason is simple: releasing a device that isnt even *llowed to be called "Meego compatible" will make it look even more desperate from Nokias side. and the investors and endusers and media will startarguing what crap it is blabla...

And dont say "well they can make it compliant" cause I guess its to late doing that now the facts that it will break compliance if using qtmobility is a bigfail imho (cause its needed on handset). (just one example)
