I'm not usually the type of person to voice frustrations here and have long been one of the people trying to calm people down about things, but as this situation continues to drag out, I'm finding my own resolve and enthusiasm for the product and the platform beginning to run out.

Of course, I feel guilty about voicing my opinion considering that I'll be getting an N810 at a greatly reduced price; something that Nokia does not need to do (especially not for me specifically).

I understand that Nokia is huge and because of that, things fall through the cracks or just can't be accomplished as fast as we would like... but the last few months has made me question if it wasn't just the developer program that fell through the cracks, but Maemo itself as well.

It's the little things. It's sending out an e-mail about the device program without a single mention of our American users. It's sending out an e-mail telling Canadians that further information would be sent next week, only to see nothing arrive for another three weeks.

As much as I've tried to help people remain patient and not lash out and repeatedly tell people, "don't worry, you'll get yours", I find myself questioning my faith in not just Nokia, but in this whole Maemo project and it deeply saddens me because I really believed in the idea and the product and the company. I'm starting to wonder if my enthusiasm for all of this has actually caused people more disservice than anything else.

I guess that's my drop in the bucket, even if it comes out sounding very melodramatic. Sorry.

Guys, I'd hope that every single person on this thread goes and posts a comment on the page that Texrat linked earlier.

Just did some link-exploring and noticed that Quim hasn't updated (or commented) on his Flors site since the 30th of December. Given that today is the 11th, I highly doubt that he is STILL on vacation. Sincerely hope things are good.

I also just noticed that my rather lengthy comment on the maemo.org announcement page has vanished - again.

AND, that there are currently NOT any comments from anyone else on this thread. Seriously, folks. If there was a place that WILL get read and noticed, it's there.

Don't tell us it's ready unless you've confirmed 2x that it is.

That's why I'm upset. I don't care *WHY* they're not active, I'm pissed because of the way it's been handled and the complete lack of communication from ANYONE other than you, frankly.
I basically said the exact same thing on Quim's Blog at the end of December; http://flors.wordpress.com/2007/12/1...week/#comments

Almost two weeks later; the same issue is still occurring. And the point nobody at Nokia seems to be getting is that it isn't about the codes; it is about the communication (or should I say the complete lack their of) that is the real problem.

Oh, and I got a wonderful notice today; that I can now purchase it in the USA; guess what -- codes still don't work. I think if I had egg in my face a couple times by pre-maturely saying that the codes are working I would triple check before I send another email saying "all is well".

TexRat -- any chance you can Blog internally in Nokia about the "Reputation" loss that is exhibited by non and/or faulty communication with their users? (Feel free to quote anything from here or Quims blog that I've said if it helps!) I don't think Nokia understands what effect this is having...

Nathan.

Ack-- me too. We just finished a HUGE reorganization (I mean, the company was reinvented from the top down) and I hope it didn't adversely affect him or anyone else on maemo. If it's any assurance, Quim still shows up in the corporate directory!

Yeah, I can. I just need to let the situation perc in the back of my mind so I can figure out the best way to approach it. I have a couple of other articles ahead of that and I'll try to knock them out ASAP. But I have a cold today so I'm doing good to even put this thought together... lol.

Canadians are scheduled to have code access some time next year.

(I know I'm gonna pay for this sooner or later... )
