Pidgin just got status area plugin so try that. When you close your main window in pidgin it's still running in background and you can open it from status area.

Works for me, but i didnt like pidgin so i removed whole program.

Hello to you guys,

it came to my attention that neither pidgin nor the integrated chat app can do offline messages.

For everyone who doesn't understand what im talking about:

when someone in my contact list from icq is sending a message to me when im not online and i then log in to my account on my n900 i don't recieve the message the person has sent to me.

Does anyone have/had the same problem and can help me?

I checked everything on my device and the internet including this forum and i didn't find anything.

cheers

hope something comes out soon. nokia needs to put more time into making software for this phone, because right now its only good for surfing and messaging+calling. msn is like the most used im program, why is there still nothing out that works properly?

exactly.. my msn has worked only twice since i installed the butterfly plugin, and u need to restart your phone every time if u want it to work, it doesnt show msn contacts availbility on your contacts as well, and always never logs in.

SIGH... it Would be perfect if MSN was integrated

I feel the same way. Did not want to risk haze or butterfly at the moment so I'm using pidgin. Could use some work and yeah we need offline messages. I also think pidgin is draining my battery alot faster than it should considering I only use my phone on Edge for internet access. Anyone else using pidgin with poor battery life?
It's funny I finally figured out you need to use a plugin to get the pidgin send button. Don't like having to pull out the hardware keyboard everytime I need to respond to a message.

I tried to uninstall all protocols associated with pidgin and IM protocols for maemo 5 and one thing that wont uninstall isPidgin Extra Protocols (Bomjour and Sametime) 2.6.3-nix0... It says:
- Unable to uninstall "Pidgin Extra Protocols (Bomjour and Sametime)
- Required by application packages: Pidgin Sametime Support (2.6.3-nix1)

But if Pidgin Extra Protocols (Bomjour and Sametime) 2.6.3-nix1 was installed, would i see [...]-nix0 still?

I installed butterfly today from extras testing, no luck it always says connection error. Ah well back to Pidgin, do these conversation addons such as haze and butterfly typically use less battery than say a full program like Pidgin?
