not sure what you are referring to so in order to avoid a (semblance) of argument, i'll explicit my post...

no kidding there; all the linked images point to Symbian devices

no kidding; as a side note messed up the Aura / Oro reference, otherwise the interview (as well as a couple more i came across while looking for official MeeGo statements (from NOKIA) made me change my mind about Elop;
(from m$ trojan to trying to implement the NOKIA move to wp as good as can)

let's say sarcastic?

the way you posted it implies this is the consumer MeeGo device, no?
(talking about starting rumours )
no kidding there neither, but Ze has clarified that point meanwhile (thanks for that, Ze)
thus this is a moot point / part
EDIT: well, considering that Ze clarified the final question, the whole discussion is moot point. i try to underpin my posts, maybe i should switch to the general "hit & run" practice?

like i said in the beginning of this post, i'm doing my best to provide FOUNDED information and clarify whenever possible.
(not quite fitting into the hit [Submit Reply] & run attitude which prevails here, is it?)
maybe my biggest mistake was being too adamant about pointing out that most of what there was in that argument was "rumours"?

EDIT2: and getting pissed @ the fact that most of the replies seemed to take whatever was posted on the thread as "the final truth on the matter"

to actually reply to YOUR post...
in my OPINION, the only device MeeGo (/ NOKIA) need right now is a device w/ keyboard
(same ol' scratched 'n skipping record, yeah, i know...)

why?

- as Marrat & i pointed out (too?) many posts ago, if the device has a hw keyboard, those who don't want to use it don't have to, do they?

- (i can't seem to remember who) pointed out that the cost of a device w/ hw kbd was prohibitive; what about E7?
from 53 mobile phones NOKIA currently offers, nearly a quarter (12) have a hw keyboard (even though also included... N900 & a couple devices w/ numerical keyboards)
cost argument strikes me as a desperate one.

- who said only developers or nerds are interested in a HW kbd? most if not all business (mobile) phones from NOKIA have / had a hw alpha keyboard.
and i don't think CxOs bought most of those.
EDIT: SMSes & blogging goes a LOT faster too...

- keyboard less device may be a good weapon against iPotatos & the like, but is MeeGo ready for that battle?

Okey dokey.
Did another fcc search and the device I was referring to was QFXRM-744.
passed testing on the 7th March and has stc until 20 July 2011
some components of the data submitted to the FCC including block diagram, operating description and schematic have a permanent confidential tag against them.

defined in application as GSM/WCDMA cellular telephone with bluetooth

obviously a dumbphone/s40 device

disregard

would you have a link?
https://encrypted.google.com/search?...&aqi=&aql=&oq=
as well as http://www.fcc.gov/search/results/QFXRM-744

@misterc, I was only referring to your assumption that Ze was suggesting this would be the consumer device (the one showing the Symbian UI and rather unexciting hardware).

And all I'm saying is that the device is going to play in a different league.

Will it be up to competing with iPhone, Android or WP7? No... but only because it doesn't have the apps. I still love it, and you (all) will probably still love it as well.

(Don't read anything regarding keyboards into this, not commenting on that)

Sadly i think what everyone on here has to realise is that the bigger picture is not good for Nokia.. they keep losing ground. And most likely will continue to do so.

There is very little anyone can do to stop Apple at this stage.. even Microsoft.

With all the problems Nokia are having, the release of one device which will most likely not make any impact at all on their profits is not going to be very high on their list of priorities.

My advice would be to forget the N9 for the moment and get back to your lives.. because June will come and go and i would be surprised if there is any official information released.

Nearly 3,500 posts on this thread and nobody knows any more than when that video was first linked... c'mon guys... think about it

given some of the wild speculation on this thread I'm sure i won;t lose sleep over your angry face.

If people are willing to take random stuff on a speculation thread as gospel without doing their research, that's a reflection on their own stupidity.

Here's some more speculation.

Trolling the fcc approvals database, there's nothing from Oct 2010 to present, other than the rm-680, that hasn;t already been released (or openly slted for release).

Where does that leave us? With old tech? or with only one device?
or, most likely, the device hasn;t been submitted for approval yet.

given that NO-ONE knows when/if it will be released and FCC approval only takes 3-4 weeks......

what about your friend (from South-America, J.M.)?

this being said, we don't know more, but we still know what we knew before the thread was started

- NOKIA management (Elop + Green + Harlow @ least) say ONE device

- FCC certification ( https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/...27LJPRM-680%27 )
including end of confidential tag 24th of june.
btw, could be the N7 (X breeding between N8 & E7)..

- did i forget anything?

meanwhile.we know (as posted on this thread too) that the Nokia Connection 2011 will take place on 21st of June; seems a good opportunity to announce new devices, no?
