Okay, apparently coming in on the tail end of this thread (and haven't yet waded through 333 pages of intervening thread). I have one question. I found the speed patch before it was Debian-ized. Is i have been running my N900 at 900 MHz for almost 2 years. Is it safe/recommended to upgrade to the v4.0 deb? Any prep (like removing the old stuff) that should be done before?

Thanks,

I have KP installed, but I want the Battery Patch to work the same way as the non-KP works. Only with these features:

When device is locked : or system is inactive

1-) vfs_cache_pressure goes to 10 : it's proven that doing this saves a lot of battery on standby
2-) renice 1 some processes

When the device is unlocked or the brightness is on

1-) vfs_cache_pressure goes back to 100
2-) renice 0 to the previous processes
I don't want overclock nor underclock.
What do I do?

Don't use any of these "patches". FULL STOP.

These packages (and probably others) should be removed from the repositories by the administrators.

I have already been there, the CC have decided they can stay in extras-devel. I don't agree, but I am glad they are not in extras or testing anymore.

Yeah, I was there also years ago too, but you know that everybody uses extras-devel because most applications never get promoted.

It's like running in circles....

I am trying my best to fix this, as you where those years ago.

This isn't a valid argument for removing it completely IMO.

However, I do feel some of my points above make this application unsave even for extras-devel. After all no further development will be made.
My opinion was the .deb should be removed but the sources could remain on RMO.

Yes, but we can only do our best.
It's up to the users if they want to ruin there system. After all it's not our data that will be lost or devices melted if something goes wrong.

Can't mods just add a post to the end of this thread and edit the original post to guide everyone away from it and then lock it to prevent the message getting lost?

I was thinking it maybe a good idea to lock this thread.
However, this may create satellite threads from "victims" or potential installers, which will not resolve the issue.
