Only if you lie and say you're from Nova Scotia.

Why bother posting their? What indication do we have that the complaints will even be read?

1. Repositories were down for ages
2. Some pointed questions have been posted in several places (quims blog, dev mailing lists, others blogs)

If very "Visible" issues are ignored. Why would I even suspect that a "moderated" or "que" based comments would even be acknowledged?

Please note; this isn't an attack against you TexRat; you have been pretty vocal when you can; and I get the distinct impression that you really aren't involved directly with the Maemo team, but in a totally different "department" of Nokia and a just user of the Nxxx.

Interesting (but not reassuring), the US link transformed into a canadian link:

http://www.nokia.ca/link?cid=PLAIN_TEXT_607318

seems to get you to the letstalk.com web site like the US code does...

I thought this was funny as all get out... A man after my own heart.
I just had to "thank" you for this post. Much needed humor in light of the situation.

You're right: posting here is better.

All silliness aside, that thread is closer to the heart of maemo than this one is. You want action? Direct it as close to the source as you can. The farther out you are, the more like noise the words appear. That's not meant as a personal slam, either.

And you're right: I'm not directly involved with maemo; I was briefly the factory quality engineer responsible for the N800's successful launch. But I had become a fan when the 770 came out, and helped the previous engineer with it then was assigned to take over when he moved on. I am still a fan and love my N810, quirks and all. But I am definitely critical of screwups... just gotta be careful how I render that.

Unless something changed he may be still on vacation. I've seen him mentioning vacation in some mail from December and he also stated he will be available in February. Not sure this meant he won't be available earlier but it may be so (that he won't (be available)). I guess he will be surprised how things went when he is away :-)

EDIT: I can't find the word February now, sorry for misinformation, I only see "This will happen sadly next month since... I'm starting holidays tomorrow" written in mid December.

Just wanted to say that he is probably OK and just 'recharging his batteries' somewhere.

This may come across as another lame excuse to some here but it really isn't.

When you work for Nokia in professional, especially global positions, you are HIGHLY connected. I cannot stress that enough. You are an extremely mobile, flexible, highly-available tech machine. For many of us (including me) that's cool-- we are workaholics and tend to love what we do. But occasionally even a machine needs downtime. So when we do disconnect, it's hardcore.

That *may* be Quim's situation. I cannot speak for him of course, but it would make sense. I wouldn't blame him a bit.

I, personally, hope he's somewhere far from this mess, enjoying sun & sand (okay, maybe snow & beer - I Am Canadian). Although I don't envy what he has to return to.

Let's all remember to be nice to Quim next week (the usual abuse can begin on the following Monday ).
