Actually it updated the unread status only after tapping on the right column.
I mean the status of the unread mail does show up in the UI only after tapping on the right column.

i wish there were away, like the post said about claws... to just accept a bad cert. i really dont care , cause the email addy i had to start using since gmail wont work right on here (and other issues with modest) , i got it set not to use ssl. there should be an option not to use it in gmail.

With my Gmail accounts I got the bad cert message only when I created the profiles. Never more.

I had a similar experience a few versions ago, but when I upgraded at some point it came back every time i started modest (and preventing automatic checking). At that time, I tried deleting the profile as well as uninstall/reinstall, but it didn't help. After reading your post, I uninstalled again, and this time manually deleted "/home/user/.modest". When I reinstalled, I got the warning at setup, but liked alephito I haven't seen the warning since.

I'm getting the Internal Error messages with 22 and I even got one ominous device full error. Thankfully that one only happened once...

I've given some pointers here about scrubbing your system of all traces of Modest in order to get a clean install.

Here's a tip. If you are running an SD cloned multi-boot system, you have to maintain your partitions regularly. If your primary modest install is on a cloned SD partition and you are getting errors, try booting to flash and running fsck.ext2 on your partition. I had tons of errors, many of them in Modest-related files. It was so bad that after the fsck, I needed to wipe Modest off my system and re-install it. I think Modest does a lot of file activity, causing the files to corrupt.

Assuming your cloned OS partition is #2 on your card:

sudo fsck.ext2 /dev/mmcblk0p2 -y

Any comments about Modest 24-1? Should I update?

Well I have uploaded it and I have to say it died with an internal error message only ONCE, while the previous versions used to crash more often to me.
It's becoming really usable now, in my opinion.

Interesting. On my tablet, the frequency of internal errors during background email checks has increased markedly.
