Different market? Aren't they selling a phone? Maybe you mean different target audience?

Speak for yourself. This is in direct competition with high end apple/android/webos handhelds. If the Motorola Sholes doesn't end up having any major issues, I don't really see much reason to get an n900 over it, nor the other way around.

I haven't taken the time to install the latest maemo5 SDK yet, but I think it is fair to say that at this point Android is more mature, more stable and obviously has a lot more users and apps. If Nokia prices this at $400+ like they did with all the previous ones then it would be a very easy choice to get an Android or WebOS phone instead.

It's initially slated for T-Mobile, right?

I doubt it will debut for that price. And I fear that Maemo might be a hard sell for even AT&T, and I doubt that Nokia will take the time to brand it for Verizon or Sprint.

Probably, but it is just a rumor at this point. It will be either TMO or ATT though.

I don't think you can say Android is more stable, because you can argue maemo is more of a standard distribution than Android. Maemo benefits a lot from upstream commits.

I see the front-facing camera here in the bottom right next to the Nokia logo.

That's what I meant (since I'm from the US and most phones are subsidized through service providers). But yes, probably doubled that for unsubsidized.
