Yes. The previous version was more stable for me too.

add me to that list. Lots more errors this time around, and I did a fresh re-install.

while i dont use background checking or imap, i have noticed that modest seems to get "stuck" as running after i have closed it more often then the last version.

as in, i close it after checking mail, and i can still see it listed in the processes list or notice that when i open it again it do not open on the default account, but the account i was last looking at...

If anyone else connecting to IMAP finds the alerts for new READ emails incredibly irritating, please can they vote for this bug.

Anyone know why I can't seem to send emails from accounts when using POP access? I can read emails perfectly fine from Gmail and Yahoo! mail using POP access, but it appears the only time I can actually send email is when using IMAP access.

It's weird. The message is created, it states that it is going to the Outbox, and then says that message has been sent. But there is no trace of the message, either in the "Sent" folder or on Yahoo/Gmail.
---

Also I get that bug where previously read (and sometimes deleted) emails show up again as unread.

I don't know what the problem is with this and the built-in email program, I would have thought that an email program was much simpler to implement than this...

Indeed, interesting.
It crashed the second time yesterday. And that's it.
It's up & running all the time. I change connection often (lab, home, phone, no connection) during the day.
It's been quite some days now. Two crashes. That's it.

UPDATE: WOW three crashes in a row !
I have found my tablet events blocked by one Internal error waiting for a confirmation. :/

Okay.. situation seems to be worse.

Well, it certainly doesn't sound like the new version has really changed things in any significant way. I'll probably upgrade, because there doesn't sound like there's any new bugs. It just sounds like the old ones haven't really gone anywhere.

What's weird to me is that the built-in mail app works with Yahoo and Gmail POP. It's just a really bad email client, and all indications are that Modest is going to replace the built in app anyway. So I would like it to work w/ POP accounts. Until then, I guess it's Modest for IMAP Gmail and web browser for Yahoo mail for me...

indeed, for pop a version of the existing osso mail app with the gui of modest would be all that would be required...

the osso one behaves normally on one of my two accounts, the same one that modest have problems after problems with (first it crashed when finding new mails, now it ignores any kind of header only setting).

add that to modest forgetting that i have deleted mails from a account, unless i go from it to the other (just closing modest is not enough), or is online at the moment.
