WHOO! Found a BIG BIG breaking bug. Will be filing a bunch of these soon. hehe.. whew.

Turns out that if I have, let's say two new unlistened-to podcasts.. and I delete one of them.. it disappears... never to be able to be re-downloaded again because this latest gpodder no longer shows the list of removed podcasts.

I still love that FEEDS with no new podcasts are hidden from view with an option... but there's no option to show EPISODES that have been deleted in case I made a mistake (as I did today) and want to re-download them.

I went through and made a laundry list of bugs and feature requests on bugs.gpodder.org:
  • Bug 564 - Unable to download previous episodes in a feed
  • Bug 565 - Unable to play selected multiple podcasts
  • Bug 566 - Unable to copy/paste text from episode details and podcast settings
  • Bug 567 - Provide more intuitive UI in 'Podcast settings' for users

I also found a few old ones that should probably be closed now, too:
  • Bug 529 - Unable to select multiple podcasts in scrollbar mode
  • Bug 513 - Make switching between podcasts snappier

Let me know if I should do anything else to help.

Thanks!

Check out the view menu. It has a "Show deleted episodes" item that you want to try out

DOH! Well, there's another one I overlooked. Go ahead and close that ticket too, then.

I installed 2.0 manually from extras-devel (downloaded the gpodder-icon-theme deb and installed it using dpkg -i, downloaded gpodder 2.0 deb and installed it using application manager)

gpodder does not respect my choice of video player. It always using media player, and not mplayer. I have ogg-support installed which changes the banner that displays while media player is opening. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Also did we lose the ability to select a custom video player again? I like to use "mplayer -cache 1024"

I downloaded the version from (updated 2009-09-16 16:45 UTC) and have the same problem with "gpodder-icon-theme >= 2.0 is missing"

Thanks for your help,

Bruce

In thinking about it, I'm mostly talking about "Podcasts / Download new episodes", Select All and Select None buttons. There were a number of new episodes that I didn't want to listen to on my commute (or just then) but wanted to keep marked as new episodes for the next long car trip with the family or perhaps a later commute. So my list of new episodes would grow long & I'd want these "save for later" items to keep appearing. Not having Select All and Select None makes it harder to play these kinds of games. But having the ability to tag an episode as "Download Later" or something would probably be a superior solution. Not a big deal, but is that worth my creating a feature request?

BTW, I am also experiencing this bug. Everyone works fine for single-select, but for multi-select I can't Download or Play episodes or anything. My media player is "User-configured (panucci --queue)".

For which types of files does this happen (which file extension)? If you can provide an URL to a RSS feed, I could try it.

You can access the advanced config editor by opening the preferences dialog and pressing Fullscreen-Fullscreen-Plus-Minus-Plus-Fullscreen. There you can set the "videoplayer" variable. And yes, as danramos already pointed out, this might not be the best solution. I'll think of a better way to access the advanced configuration dialog for the next version

Please try again after checking for updates in the Application Manager. It should work now, as I don't see gpodder-icon-theme in the list of packages that can be promoted to Diablo Extras anymore.

The "Select All" and "Select None" are now in the application menu that you can access by pressing the titlebar. I figured that would save screen space and be more in line with the rest of the Maemo 4 UI.

You can even use "Invert selection" now - select the episodes you want to download, hit "Invert selection", hit "Never download", then hit "Select all" and then Download. Granted, this "Never download" functionality should be re-worked a bit (on the Desktop, someone suggested having three radio buttons [Leave as new, Never download, Download] for each episode, but that might be overkill on Maemo). Suggestions welcome

Don't forget - gPodder 2.0 has many nice options hidden in the title bar menu (also for the shownotes and podcast settings dialog). Again, if you have an idea how we can make this more obvious, please tell me.

I'll have a look at this. Thanks for your feedback
