Can this be installed on the PR 1.3 without any problem? Has anybody experience anything?

hi MohammadAG. i have a small problem. i tried to install the faster kinetic scrolling with your first method but i got this error:
Code:
Reading database ... 34728 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace hildon-desktop 1:2.2.138-1+0m5 (using hildon-desktop_kinetic_2.2.138-1+0m5_armel.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement hildon-desktop ...
dpkg-deb (subprocess): short read in buffer_copy (failed to write to pipe in copy)
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste returned error exit status 2
dpkg: error processing hildon-desktop_kinetic_2.2.138-1+0m5_armel.deb (--install):
short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/bin/hildon-desktop.launch')
Errors were encountered while processing:
hildon-desktop_kinetic_2.2.138-1+0m5_armel.deb
i then tried your second method and it worked just fine. Now i m tring to install preenv, but i get this error:
Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mp-fremantle-003-pr: Depends: hildon-desktop (= 1:2.2.140-1+0m5) but 1:2.2.138-1+0m5 is to be installed
preenv: Depends: libjson-glib-1.0-0 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
i try 'apt-get -f install' but nothing happerns. can you help me plz?

rm /etc/apt/preferences
apt-get install hildon-desktop=1:2.2.140-1+0m5
Wait for the SSU

I had matan's desktop with pr1.3 and transitions.ini modified, kinetic scrolling was fast. A couple of days ago I installed an update from matans repo and it broke the faster scrolling. My other modifications of transitions ini still work. I tried manually installing hildon-desktop_matan_2.2.140-1\+0m5_armel.deb downloaded from MohammadAG but kinetic still slow. What am I doing wrong? I dont understand this: Do I need a special package for faster scrolling or modifiying transitions.ini is enough?

hi man, i have another problem. i tried what you wrote in the other post and it worked. i installed preenv but whenever i try to install an application from faster application manager, i get an error saying there are unment dependencies and that i should see the log. when i checked the log i found this:
Code:
Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
advanced-power: Depends: advanced-power-monitor (>= 0.5.3-3) but it is not going to be installed
mp-fremantle-003-pr: Depends: hildon-desktop (= 1:2.2.140-1+0m5) but 1:2.2.138-1+0m5 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
can you help me plz?
thanx in advance

If you install the latest modified-hildon-desktop (version 3.3), then kinetic speed is controlled by gconf, not transitions.ini, so you need to run the command

Code:
gconftool -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/decel_rate -t int 99

So here's something odd (or maybe not -- I'm hoping someone can tell me either way)...

I had that .deb installed recently after updating to PR1.3 (FW flash + EMMC), and it killed my battery.. I could barely go a day without hearing the low-batter warning pings with very light usage. It was by far the worst I've experienced since I bought the N900 nearly a year ago.

I unpinned the package and reinstalled the PR1.3 version of hildon-desktop, and by battery has been lasting longer than I can remember it lasting prior.. after a day of fairly consistent usage, I'm still at about 2/3 charge..
