Where I grew up though, it was and still is... fish! Usually carp. They sell it live before Christmas and people kill, skin, gut and cook it themselves in their homes. I used to do it a lot when I was young. It was fun having a live carp in the bath tub

My Grandma killed/prepared chicken and goose by hereself and i had some awkward moments in my childhood

More to the point, do you have a license to kill it?
Here in the UK, the traditional Christmas meal is some kind of a bird. It used to be a goose in the olden days but nowadays it is usually turkey.
Where I grew up though, it was and still is... fish! Usually carp. They sell it live before Christmas and people kill, skin, gut and cook it themselves in their homes. I used to do it a lot when I was young. It was fun having a live carp in the bath tub
