They just said it was "shipping" - the only reason we knew it was from the factory was because Peter told us.

Why in Germany first? In US n900 is first! And tomorrow in UK, so why we should wait 25th?

So there's no need for me to be jealous?

I need to call the flagship store to see if they have any in stock (doubtful).

The Nokia N900 is available in a black finish and will retail for USD 649 through Nokia Flagship stores in New York and Chicago, nokiausa.com and various independent retailers and e-tailers including Amazon.com. For more information and high resolution images, please visit http://www.nokia.com/press.
NokiaUSA.com still says pre-order. for the love of god.

I called Dell. My estimated delivery date is still 12/10 but they were also throwing out 11/24 as being a possible ship date. They talked about a backlog of preorders as being a reason for delay. I could be totally wrong but it sounded like they will start shipping on 11/24. I am not super high on the list and they are backlogged so the supposed maximum time for my delivery is 12/10.

the first stock coming through is usually very small in quantity.
Furthermore to the bad news is management will fob off enquiries from customers with oh it'll be in in 2 weeks etc. when in actual fact there is no clue when the stock will be arriving!

I'm hoping nokia will be different but i'm not gonna hold my breath!
The funny thing is usually it isn't even that initial stock is limited, it is artificially capped, whether by the manufacturer not sending enough or stores holding back stock. Does anyone really believe that every hot product can't be produced in sufficient numbers to meet demand? Yet they all have no issues pre-selling them to everyone and their dog. It's just to keep the hype going. Look at the Wii for instance, they limited stock on that for like almost 2 years. At their store here in New York they would make people line up everyday in the morning before opening and sell some capped amount.

I'm pre-ordering the N910. See you guys next year.

Nokia Flagship stores have no idea what is going on. Typical.
