Well, it looks like Nokia decided to make Modest into a Google-style beta by releasing it with Diablo. I'm a little disappointed in that. As much as I like Modest, I don't think it's stable yet. I've already seen people complaining of Internal Error messages when trying to use the Diablo mail client...

Ironically, I've had very few problems with the RTCOMM beta that adds all of the Pidgin account types to your built-in accounts via Telepathy-Haze. But they didn't include that in Diablo...

Yep, useless for me.

Some emails (from Thunderbird/Windows) just show up as empty, no From:, no Subject, no content.

The old ossomail worked much better, even if it was such a simple app.

Disappointing!

My experience is completely different.

I am using Modest with Gmail IMAP, and it works really well. No more internal errors from I am using the pre-release diablo (and now with the official). I have an account with no many email (aprox. 5k). No crashes, it notify perfectly and so on.

Rtcomm have crashed randomly, it sometimes duplicate contacts, change the fields in the contacts app, and some other thing.
It isn't important to me, but in my experience Modest is more stable than Rtcomm.

I confess that I have had no Modest crashes since upgrading to Diablo. It seems to be working fine for me. But as I read the thread about Diablo's release, I saw people mentioning the "Internal Error" messages that we were getting in the pre-Diablo beta.

Funny, I never noticed Rtcomm crashing with error messages like Modest, but I haven't tried changing contact info or anything, I just chat with people.

I had an Internal Error with Diablo. In fact, it was in the first mail check after the upgrade.

But since then, 24 hours ago, everything worked well.

Modest worked well for me on Gmail IMAP as well, in beta/chinook and on Diablo. It's the POP access that is broken/non-functional.

I don't have problems with Gmail, both POP and IMAP access.

Can you send an email from Gmail using POP in Modest? It never worked for me. In fact the messages I composed never even made it to the "Outbox".

I could always retrieve mail fine, in fact it took me a couple of days to realize that email messages weren't being sent. Why? Because a little right-corner dialog box would come up saying "message moved to outbox" ... only problem, it wasn't, and was never sent, and in fact they all disappeared into the ether somewhere, never to be seen again.

Yes, I can. Could it be some problem with your configuration?

Maybe. I tried every configuration I could think of. I guess I'll play around with it this weekend again.
