If the dev device is thicker and has keyboard then the consumer device can still have the same cam. Remember only the thickness of the part that holds the camera counts.

It's interesting how this so called "dev" version has a higher quality N8 (most likely) 12MP sensor inside. (according to K123 and zk)
Guess they just tapped the same batch while N8 was in production at the same time. I still hope this will be available to consumers also.

@K123 did you manage to discover how personalizable the desktop was? What I love about the N900 is that it has no ego - I can put what I like where I like and I see my own personality and creativity reflected back at me.
OK so my desktop layout might not be aesthetically perfect, but it's MINE and I LIKE IT! If I want I can put the icons too close to the edge and create a visual tension, and no bloke in a black polo neck is going to tell me I'm holding it wrong.
I would gladly swap a couple of megapixels and a core to keep the same level of UI control.
