Reset the defaults in mimer when choosing the browser.
You can find this option in the pulley menu after choosing the browser.

Hope that helps.

Thanks llelectronics for taking the time to respond.
The behaviour after resetting the defaults in the mimer app was:
- intially with webcat installed the clicked link opened successfully in webcat, with or without the application being opened prior to clicking
- so I tried uninstalling webcat, and after completing the uninstall and rebooting the phone nothing happens when a link is clicked. The default browser is neither opened, or brought to the foreground, and the link is not opened anywhere.
Is there a way to manually edit the required files to remove webcat as the default, without using the mimer app, as links do not open if the application is already open with mimer.
Thanks again for taking the time to help,
Justin.

I guess llelectronic knows better so see my answer as 'it may be the same but definitely not worsen' try.

I asked him just a few posts earlier how to reset the default web browser.
https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...&postcount=355

So install webcat, go to command line and issue:
Code:
harbour-webcat --reset-default
as normal user (there should be no need for devel-su).

Hi Peterleinchen,
That command has worked. Behaviour on clicking links is back to normal. Such a relief - so much easier then a system reinstall!
Thanks to both you and llelectronics for taking the time to help. It is very much appreciated.
Justin.

Update: 3.0.4 is out now.

This version primarily brings support for the new light theme in Sailfish 3.
Also added are ffwd and rew buttons in the video player.

Changes:
  • Add support for light theme
  • Make background white for video player when isLightTheme
  • Add rew and ffwd buttons to video player

Get the rpm from openrepos.net

Update: Version 3.0.5 is out now

This is a maintenance version fixing mainly bugs.

It is recommend to upgrade to this version as it fixes a pretty significant error in the filemanager(opendialog) component that could cause a massive data loss on removing multiple files and folders.

The filemanager component gained the ability to show hidden files by pressing on the folder name in the page header.

The Downloadmanager has been slightly redesigned to show download progress in a dockedPanel.

Better URL support and entering IP:PORT urls are now supported again.

Like always you can find the new RPM on openrepos.net.
It will later arrive on harbour.

Changes:
  • Fixed url entry + allow entering IP:PORT again
  • Fixed about:file not being able to load images in browser
  • Fixed fixUrl function to really perform check for file:// and about:
  • Made landscape downloadmanager list a bit smaller
  • Downloadmanager: Show active running download in docked panel that autohides if no download active
  • Downloadmanager: Allow all orientations for status and error Page
  • Fixed valid urls without :// in front
  • Fixed resolution independent error box
  • Downloadmanager: Align current download label horizontal all the time and elide correctly
  • OpenDialog/Filemanager: Allow showing hidden files and folders by pressing on the title of the current folder
  • Fixed BackupManager not showing progress on restore
  • OpenDialog/Filemanager: Fixed remove function for multiple files and folders (Potential high risk of loosing data when trying to remove
    multiple folders in earlier versions)

I was also bitten by this. It'd be nice if Webcat asked if you'd like to make it default browser or not. Or at least have some configuration option in UI to restore default browser.

Erm yehes.
But before you went to command line and issued
Code:
harbour-webcat --set-default
, right?

Afaik webcat does not set itself to default on installation but only via this switch?

Nope. I just installed Webcat from Openrepos, and after that the links I clicked for example in e-mail application opened with Webcat instead of standard browser.

After I did
Code:
harbour-webcat --set-default
the normal operation was restored, links opening with standard browser.
