Hello,
I am a newbie on SmartQ 5. Could someone tell me the following items?
1) What's the meaning of /sys/devices/platform/hhtech_gpiio/charge_en?? The value is always 0 in my system.

2) When I cat /sys/devices/platform/hhtech_gpiio/charge_s, I only see 0 or 1. But in hhtech_sysfs_charge_s(), it will return 0 or 1 or 2 or 3. What's the case it will return 2 or 3?

Thanks a lot.

Have anyone used the SmartQ5 and Dual doot Linux with winCE 6.0 yet ?. If so can you tell me how it runs. Were you able to install software for WinCE ?

Thanks

Go to http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer/Documentation/Screenshots to see Mer on the SmartDevices Q5 and Q7.

Some are taken from the Q5 and others, the Q7.

Mer looks exactly the same on both.

My n800 is getting a little old and tired. I have been eying the Q7. Any thoughts?

I don't know what your criteria are. If you want pocketable, go with the Q5. If you need/want a bigger screen, go with the Q7.

The Q7 has a 7" screen and the Q5, a 4.3" screen. Both touch screens are 800x480 plus the applications are the same. Neither has the refinement and quality of the N800, but the Q5 and Q7 cost a lot less.

Mer is promising but not ready for full-time use so you'll be using either the default Ubuntu Linux or the optional WinCE (Chinese edition) as your operating system.

You may want to read other people's comments over at the mobileread forums. See, for example, this thread: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47223.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the input. I have been looking at prices and I might just upgrade a tad to an n810, but I am still on the fence about the whole thing.

You know, I've been thinking the same thing, but frankly, every time I go out and try and research either the SmartQ 5 or the SmartQ 7, I'm left feeling that neither do anything that the N800 doesn't already do. Certainly not better.

About the *only* positive I've seen from either device is better battery life. In terms of speed, the N800 actually looks zippier.

The SmartQ 5 isn't an attractive device, at least not to me. The SmartQ 7 is quite a bit better looking, but it's too big.

R.

Same reaction to the SmartDevices V series? (maemo.org thread about it here)

Standby time on my Q7 is quite abysmal compared to n800 and n810. When in use power consumption is on the same order of magnitude atleast..
