More specifically, if you know any PHP coders, or can design websites (and, even better, deliver the HTML & CSS) contribute new screenflows which you think would make it better - whilst maintaining the current functionality.

I think there's probably some simple things to be learnt from Web 2.0 websites (like a big green "vote here" button on the QA queue page), but no-one's stepped up to design an integrated site.

You don't have to be a Midgard developer, a PHP developer, able to do HTML & CSS or anything technical at all to make it better. But the community's massively short of man power to tackle things like this, and no-one new is stepping up.
This is starting to feel a bit ridiculous.

I know some PHP, some HTML, something about databases and some C/C++ with GTK+ as my main UI tool kit.

After spending a few minutes thinking about this, a very easy solution would be to add a CGI entry point where some arguments are passed on into the system:

https://maemo.org/voting/vote.php?us...0.17-3&vote=up

or

https://maemo.org/voting/vote.php?us...wn&reason=Crap!

This way, everything is handled by the PHP script and all that is needed from the voter is to indicate the proper package. It would take about an hour for anyone here with any Python knowledge to slap together and test an application that can handle this.

What's stopping people from making this happen? Do I need to sign up somewhere? Does it have to go through a Brainstorm first to be "eligible" for implementation?

Improve the URL "interface".

I'd love some redirection magic, like Debian has. For example:

http://packages.maemo.org/feedingit

(should go to http://maemo.org/packages/view/feedingit/)

http://packages.maemo.org/player

(should go to the search results page for "player" if no package with that *exact* name is found: http://maemo.org/packages/search/?or...;value]=player)

I'd love to have the same for bugs.m.o. When someone says "maemo bug 1337", i want to simply type this:

http://bugs.maemo.org/1337

and be redirected to the correct page without having to remember the URL (that request has already been filed as bug 7107 by the way, and I'm not linking it here on purpose just to demonstrate how cumbersome it is to navigate to a bug page without that shortcut).

An alphanumeric string request on bugs.maemo.org should go to the search page for this string, e.g.:

http://bugs.maemo.org/gpodder

goes to: https://bugs.maemo.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=gpodder

All these features can be accomplished with some rewrite rule magic and would be very helpful in my opinion.
