I have the 32gb adapter + an mugen 3600mha battery and could not be more happy. Music, lots of gpodder videos, mm maps, some full length divx everything fits now. I think the whole device runs a little better now that I save to a full size sd card.

Consider buying this adapter.

I love my mod too. The only thing I hate is that the mod makes it to big for my car holder.

Yeah, but the extra thickness makes gaming with VGBA better
I picked up a large universal mount. Window suction cup and a grip that exends with 4 padded arms to hold the 810. Works great for Canola. A bit of a PITA for Maemo Mapper, but I have a Garmin for GPS so it doesn't bother me.

Ya know, I'm wondering if there's a way someone could develop the 7mm metal cover needed for the extended battery. Maybe the OP could, since this is his mod. I know he said it's too expensive, but I say, so what? If it's too expensive for you to produce, then just post the cad drawings and allow us to take it down to a metal shop and have it made ourselves. I know a couple local shops that'll do it for like $20 plus materials. All I need is the cad drawing.

There should be a few of us with the mugen 3600 and this mod. If we all ask craves to produce a couple of them maybe the pricetag would not be too high. And craves can get some money for all his work. I am willing to pay 40-50 bucks for a good quality metal back cover. Im seeing loong use of my n810 with Mer and other projects coming along.

keeping the thread current,

I purchased the adapter with stainless steel cover 1.2 months ago, before i actually got my n810. Now that i have it (got the n810 two days ago!) I'M SO LOVE WITH IT, now I'm just waiting on the 32gb sd card I orderd to really allow me to enjoy the functionalty of my tablet... just a quick question, will it be better to save all my programs and or data to the External memory (32gb) or leave it on the Internal ( which i expaned from the 256mb to 512mb to make room for all the programs. I was reading through all these threads and I'm still not quite sure if moving programs to the external allows the device to operate faster/better. sorry for asking here, If you know or can direct me to the specific thread that may help, please do.

Thank you so much craves1! for this product you were very nice and it was a pleasure doing business with you.

Well, he said his reasons for not doing it was that it would be prohibitively expensive. I would honestly like to see what his idea of "prohibitively expensive" would be, and what the minimum number of units sold would need to be before he'd actually break even. From there we could decide if it's practical enough to do.

Given the price of stamping and stainless steel sheetmetal, it couldn't be all *THAT* expensive. The 4mm back plate is only $25 apiece if bought separately. So a 7mm, which isn't really all that much more steel, shouldn't be much more than $30, maybe $35.

I would think a tool/die must be constructed and each time a run of back plates is built there will be a setup charge. Clearly low quantities become very expensive.

It is not just a matter of stamping out sheet metal. The unit must have the latches placed exactly or it will not work. Each tablet is different enough to make this very difficult.

I had this made overseas and the setup cost for the current version was still over $4,000.00. I also needed to purchase 500 pieces and they wanted me to purchase 1000 pieces for them to make it.
Before I had it manufactured I was flooded with promises to purchase it. After it was completed I did not get enough buys to break even. I am still trying to get the balance sold.

I am not complaining just stating the facts. I do not regret making it and sales still come in each week.

It would be very expensive to make 30 to 40 pieces (like more that the tablet can be purchased for now) I would need at least 300 or more orders to try this again. I also know that the Mugen battery supplier did not sell enough to make it possible to break even.

I do not have cad drawing to post. This took a lot of time and the manufacturer completed them from the original door that came with the tablet. I designed the latches and a few other parts that are vital for it to work properly.

I would like to make it but it is not in the budget, times are different now and I can not spend money like I did with the current door.

There are about 50 pieces left if anyone still wants it.

Thanks for all the positive comments and to anyone who already purchased one.

Also I will still make accessories for the adapter but I must concentrate on my main company for now.
