W7 x64

I was using the client to navigate via folders and I had two folders ["The Office (UK)" and "The Office (US)"] that would produce an error along the lines of "No stored data," when clicked. On a hunch, I got rid of the parentheses and it seemed to fix the problem. Could be a coincidence.

I keep getting this error on the server: VLC telnet error: timed out while waiting for more data

It requires a complete restart of the server service to get it working again. It happens consistantly enough that I often give up trying to watch a simple 25min video.

Server is running xp 32bit with VLC 1.0.3.

Well I tried upgrading VLC to 1.0.5 and now VLC fails to start properly the first time afte a reboot. Restarting the service fixes this, but now I get no video at all on my client.

aghhhhh

VLC should autostart if it crashes after one failed attempt. But does this happen with some video or do you get the timeout with every video?

I've been using Knots to watch an anime series and the problem seems to occur only on some videos. The no video problem occurred on the n8x0 profile and the n900 profile (default settings except for bitrate). I tried using the "browser" profile and it worked fine.

Do the files in question have non-ascii characters in their filenames? If so, could you try copying one to a different place and renaming it so that it doesn't have non-ascii characters and try again. If it plays, could you provide me the filename, operating system and version so I could try to track down why VLC doesn't find the input file.

Since I've upgraded to VLC 1.05, my first attempt at playing any video with any profile gives the error on the client "Stream failed to start." The error on the server is

Code:
[2010-02-19 17:42:15] Welcome to Knots - http://wiki.maemo.org/Knots2
[2010-02-19 17:42:15] Staring Knots in C:/knots with ruby 1.8.6
[2010-02-19 17:42:16] Waiting for VLC to start
[2010-02-19 17:42:19] Waiting for VLC to start
[2010-02-19 17:42:21] Waiting for VLC to start
[2010-02-19 17:42:22] Waiting for VLC to start
[2010-02-19 17:42:24] Waiting for VLC to start
[2010-02-19 17:42:26] VLC failed to start properly. Knots will not work.
Restarting the service makes it work.
