Well I am having reboot issues now too. I was having a charger issue yesterday where the device appeared to be charging however when I checked the battery in Xterm the percentages kept going down. Used an external battery charger to get the battery to full charge, and now when I insert the battery, I get the diminished brightness Nokia logo followed by the 5 balloons and then it loops back to the Nokia logo and balloons again. Interesting when I hit the SYM/CTRL key when it's doing this, it immediately shuts off completely, and to get it to power back on, I have to remove the battery, but when I do put it back in, it's starting the boot problem again. Any thoughts to fixing this beyond reflashing the device?

Thanks,

Were you using a charger other than Nokia's? When I first got it I was charging with another charger I had and it was behaving in a similar way. Once I hooked it up to the Nokia charger, it charged just fine.

I was using the Nokia charger, and for some reason it would appear as if it was charging but when I checked the battery via terminal, the battery was in fact not charging.

Out of topic, what XTerm command checks the battery level?

"lshal" shows a variety of hardware information.

if you're only interested in battery information, you can filter the output using "grep":
"lshal | grep bat" shows every setting of lshal which contain the string "bat".

Well I just reflashed the device, and guess what same problem...has anyone had the problem when you put the battery in, the nokia logo comes up, the orange/yellow led is flashing, the 5 dots pop up it cycles thru and then it lands in the 2nd one, and then it reboots right to the nokia logo and goes thru this process again? Man I really do not want to have to send this thing back.

Did you flash both OS and eMMC?

I followed this wiki

https://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware

I used flasher-3.5 for XP

I have a retail version of the device and noted this paragraph.

Flasing the eMMC resets the MyDocs folder contents to factory settings. N900 users don't need to reflash the eMMC of their device. If you are reading this it's probably because you got a pre-production device e.g. in the Maemo Summit. If you have a sales unit and you have problems with your eMMC you should contact Nokia Care.

The weird part is, I've had this for just about 8-9 days with zero problems at all, yesterday I encountered the charging issue, and today this is happening. it simply will not get past the 5 balloons and keeps cycling thru to the nokia logo.

The weirdest part is every single time I hit the SYM/CTRL key the device totally powers off and will not do anything until I remove the battery and place it back in. Then it does the looping start up again.
