I think that if anything, you're made yourself better for the job, honestly. I'm not sure what more you could have done, being one of the first people to have this problem with the device (myself probably being the second). You've gone above and beyond the call of duty as far as I'm concerned.

Texrat - Although I do not have the problem yet, I appreciate very much for the additional work you have put in to make other users like myself feel more confident. It has been about two weeks since I got the unit and find it hard to return although I am aware of this issue.

This community is one of the better ones I have seen in a long time and made possible by folks like you. Folks go out of their way to help new comers, thanks!

Texrat you have really good reason to be proud of yourself. Because if Nokia really takes care of this now they will probably save lots of money and maybe just because of you or at least partly because of you. They should be grateful and give big pile of stocks

You probably know that if faults are noticed on drawing board it's just wasted working hours, but if they are noticed after manufacturing costs start really going up and sometimes they explode (Toyota's situation right now)

So this is pretty new device and micro-usb is also quite new thing on charging. Mistakes that are admitted and fixed right now mean lots of saved money in near future. It's perhaps impossible to count how much money some company could loose because lost brand image, but I think it's huge amount of money. First thing to do is to keep that image shine and only way today's market is to provide fast feedback and support. Way to really fck up is to hide quality problems because they will not vanish even if you externally deny existence of problems. They will pile up and as same time your brand image gets dirty.

Yes that was the term that kept annoying me. Physical damage can mean anything it is the cause of that damage that gets me annoyed.

I am sorry but that has got nothing to do with it. I am returning a device to the store I purchased it from. The UK law is very clear on this you are responsible for replacing it if you are saying I damaged it through my miss use then you better be willing to bring evidence to small claims court. Phones are devices designed to be carried around used in a mobile environment fit for purpose includes being able to handle the odd bump. Id even say that the event that hit texrats phone should be supported.

Would people expect a warranty refusal if a cars wheel fell off over the first pothole. Blown tire maybe but the first pothole making the car unusable is a car not fit for purpose.

What Nokia says has little to do with it.

To many people in the supply chain are trying to rip off customers and forgetting the importance of customer service. These laws are created specifically to prevent us the customers having to fight for our rights.

And we customers are far to tolerant of people taking advantage of us.

Nokia Discussions admin deleted my last post and instructed me by PM not to mention there any more that I am a former Nokia employee and not try to gain Care's attention there for this issue.

I think that's a bit paranoid and misguided but I have bigger fires to fight.
