Thank you for suggestions and support. Unfortunately, I'm having some problems reconstructing my development environment. I use MADDE. But the version I have is for Qt 4.5. Now with PR 1.2 out, all devices have Qt 4.6, so I wanted to upgrade to the latest version of MADDE with that version as well. As these are all 'technology previews', they don't quite work 'out of the box'. I hope to have an update before Friday, but I'm not too sure about it...

I was also too optimistic about the calendar integration. I expected the API to be part of QtMobility, which it is not. I have found some examples showing how to do it but I'm not too sure how long it will be before I can get it into the app x2.

And AppIcon background does not look nice in app manager, anyone knows why?
I have PR1.2 and can confirm this issue. Once launched, the app overshoots the screen, cutting off the last tab and part of the second to last one as well as the bottom of the screen.

Should also mention, no other issues that I can see as yet, installed and runs fine without issue. Also, as only a new N900 owner, I gotta say I love seeing a community like this working on quality apps - kudos to you for getting stuck into what will no doubt be a very popular app

that is called iPhone syndrome.

But I guess people are sick now browsing heavy web pages with millions of adds and menus and links around and have hard time to find the information they need. Apps are easy, refined information sources. RSS is not that popular somehow.

I think it was mentioned before, but there is also an app called "Showtime" that has a calendar integration. Maybe that helps!?

However, from my point of view it is more important to have a usable version first before every single sophisticated feature is integrated...

Btw, do you plan to keep the websites for live scores, chat, prediction integrated as they are or do you plan to create a consistent app-like UI for those services/features?

The long term goal is to integrate them all into the 'native' app. That will most likely not be possible in the short term for most of them (read: for the duration of the WC...)

Right, it is obvious what 90% of all the iphone apps consist of, including dupes. I don't support this direction, but people always try to make money or gain acceptance out of shlt.

I'm no programmer, but for me apps are bits of code which actually perform computation by cross-interacting between different, mostly local components to accomplish a new, useful and creative function through creative programming. These kinds of apps are always more than the sum of the components they access, so simply fetching information for lazy people by creating a degraded browser instance with flashy gui and icon is a waste of time, engagement and ressources, imo, the codified essence of stupidity and irrelevance. Of course you are always free to waste your time, the way you want (this includes 90% of all the posting in this forum...).

It would be a PITA if this weak concept would get trendy in the maemo world. Imagine browsing the app repositories when every 2nd app is just some aggregator of some schmucky website. You have one of the best mobile browsers at hand, so use it. The information you need is just one shortcut away.
