I installed titans v25 - it works fantastic, no problem at all, however, when i loaded the starving settings and then typed in the limits - as suggested by the wiki, my '900 rebooted and since then i have not been able to install/delete/download any programs from my app manager.

Even when i have tried the x terminal to revert back to the default kernel, it wont revert back to the original. so i currently have v25 on and not able to download/install.

Is this as a result of the unstablitiy of my device with starve settings?

Is there any solution apart from reflashing the device?

Thanks
Might be.. you could open the xterminal and upgrade through that if you have rootsh installed.

1. root
2. apt-get update
3. apt-get upgrade

Sorry.. forgot to tell you to change to the firmware image too. You can get it here. http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php

Download both the RX-51 and Vanilla images. You could start by trying just the RX-51 and if thats not working also do the vanilla.

hmm.
it says "Never boot up the device between flashing the FIASCO image and the eMMC image!"
and i think the parameter "-R" means reboot, how should i do this?
thanks again.

If you want to flash both images then just remove the -R for the first image and leave the -R for the second image. I am not sure though if you need to flash both images. But if you don't have anything important saved then i guess it will not be a problem.

there is no need for reflashing.
applying temporary but unstable settings should have no effect after it reboots.
what are the error messages you get when downloading or reverting back to stock kernel?

after upgrading you need to shutdown (without usb cable) and boot again.
"it doesn't work" is not very specific.

after updating, i load my setup by kernel-load.
and i click on status bar, it reboots suddenly and stuck before pin code input interface.

i try to reflash kernel by maemo flashser, but it didn't work.
please help. thanks.

interesting, but I cannot reproduce it. could be more specific?
SIGTERM after flashing is normal.
could you please upload dmseg? if you install sysklogd you can see more
in /var/log/syslog

So it seams the kernel might not be ready for extras-testing yet.
I attach my output from flashing the kernel. Is it supposed to SIGTERM at the end?

This happened to me too. The v34 that I had downloaded was corrupted somehow, and so I tried to flash a menagerie of v33 and v34, but I think the headers were also mangled. It was fine until I shut the phone down and then it wouldn't boot, nor charge as it would do a reboot loop when plugged in to the USB mains.

I then had to wait till this morning to fix it,as I'd left my USB cable at work - thankfully, 5 minutes later it was all working again and I didn't have to reflash everything, only the kernel using:

Code:
flasher-3.5 -k zImage-STOCKpr1.1.1 -f -R
So, all apps still intact just a bit of a pain to be without the phone last night. Just sharing this in case anyone has problems with the kernels, a full reflash should not be required, just use the stock PR1.1.1 from Lehto's site. If you've upgraded to the PR1.2 RC then it might be different though..
